Big lightning happening in my hometown the evening of may 24th 2020. Went outside with a tascam dr-05 handheld recorded to try and get some thunderclaps, but unfortunately the rain and lightning were more prevalent than the thunder. Here and there i comment to myself about a particularly big flash, hoping it results in a big boom, but there aren't as many booms as i was hoping to capture in the time i had the recorder switched on.

Recorded in my backyard with rode ntg-3 / dead wombat on zoom h6 recorder. Starts off with one decent short clap of thunder, but mostly rolling low rumble thunder and some rain here and there. Some of the rain drop sounds are sharp off of metal, some is just lightly hitting the ground. Some nearby trees blowing add to some of the ambiance.

Let me join 'thunder club. ' gray sky suddenly turned to be wild, and began to roar. I hastily connected a mic (ae5100) into fr-2, and recorded it. By the way, sound of thunder is one of the most difficult sources of all, i guess.

A compressor and equalizer was added to emphasize the rain in the gutter. Used to your preference, add rocks, gun loading, battle etc and you'll have an award winning film. A bunch of gusts as a warm moist mass of air from the south steamrolls over southern illinois on, believe it or not, december 14th 2015.
